Skinner's Loft is located near Grove St. in Downtown, Jersey City and looks absolutely charming. It's such a perfect place to hang out with friends or to have a romantic dinner date.The restaurant has two floors and a rooftop, which was decorated with Christmas lights and where we luckily ate at. The second floor is shown in the last photo above and the first floor has a bar with a couple of tables by the sidewalk.
My aunt and I had been eyeing this place for a while now and decided to try it one night; a decision that we do not regret. I probably liked it more than she did, but they really did have good food. To start, we weren't fond of the bread given because it wasn't warm, but the bread was free so I can't complain too much. For our meal, we ordered the Classic Caesar salad, fried calamari, and filet mignon sliders and shared everything. The salad, with the dressing ordered on the side so we had control over how much was placed in the salad, was simple and great. The fried calamari was delicious and had two amazing sauces-the roasted tomato sauce and the jalapeño-citrus aioli, which we couldn't get enough of. Lastly, the filet mignon sliders were perfect with it's garlic butter brioche buns and crispy shoestring fries. I would definitely go back there again with my friends and family, it was too good.
